Windows XP 32-bit / 64 -bit Dual Boot / Share Apps???

Hello,

I have WinXP Pro 32-bit installed on one drive "partition". It's actually a
separate drive controlle completely (RAID). I have WinXP Pro x64 Evaluation
installed on another drive (another RAID controller, but a single SATA
drive). I do not wish to install all apps twice. Apps like Office 2003 only
allows me two copies anyway (according to the EPP program license). So, I
don't want to use Office on an eval version of XP x64. So, is there an easy
way to install apps so that both Windows version can run them? I was
thinking reg "export" from the 32-bit and reg "import" on the 64-bit version.
Anyone ever try this?

I have a second question as an evaluator of WinXP 64-bit. I had the beta
version install and did not want to re-format the drive, but just install a
fresh copy of the eval version of RC2 on there. I joined it to my "NT"
domain, but when I try to log in, I get a "cannot start RPC service" or
something along those lines. So, I have to log in a the local administrator.
I can't use my domain user accounts. Anyone run into the same problem.
Again, I didn't do a "clean" install by reformatting. I just did a "copy
over" of the beta version of the 64-bit Windows previously installed. I did
not have that problem with the beta version.

Thanks,

Apps have to be installed separately to each system. Data files can be
shared. Most of the rest of your issues are best posted to the x64
newsgroups. If you did not completely replace the earlier beta with the RC
then you have little understanding of beta software. Copying over is a
potentially serious mistake.

Thanks for the info. I wasn't really familiar with the beta. I was just
testing it as an "average" user even though I'm a developer... I didn't
really give it the time to really troubleshoot it. Where is the x64
newsgroups? I was looking for them.

I would use the Google and Yahoo groups and search on 'Windows 64-bit'.

The microsoft newsgroups are undoubtedly private for registered beta testers
at this point but should be moved to the public server shortly after the
product is released to manufacturing. If you register at betaplace
https://beta.microsoft.com/sign-in/signin.asp?refURL=http://beta.microsoft.com/content/bphome.asp?
you may be able to access the beta newsgroups, but registration for this
program may now be closed.

not sure how you acquired the x-64 beta version, but on the microsoft site where it is/was available, there are instructions on how to access the x-64 public/private x-64 news groups.
