I have been gone for a couple days, and I tryed to start my computer today
I start it up then it comes to a screen that gives me 5 choices
safe mod
safe mode with networkin
safe mode with command promp
last known good configuratio
start windows norma
I have tryed all of them and they all load up through the normal screens, then just before the windows password screen would normaly come up,a blue screen comes up and sayes somthing like this
Error
systemroot\system32\config\SOFTWAR
corrupt,absent or unreadabl
I've read all over the microsoft help and nothing comes close to fixing this. I'v tryed to reinstal windows, I changed it so that the cd drive boots first(I have the windows xp professional cd in the drive), but then when I try to start it, it has an error. I forget exactly, but I remeber it is somthing about inserting a cd then press enter.

Ick. That sounds like the SOFTWARE portion of your registry has become
corrupted.

To be truthful, I have ran across this only twice - I could not recover. I
ghosted the machine for the data, reinstalled, copied the data back and
moved on. In both of the two cases I also had to replace the hard drive.
(Physically bad.)
