Windows Workgroup Requires Login to Connect

I have a home wireless network with two PC's, both running XP SP2. Both
belong to the same workgroup. From Explorer, I can see each machine from the
other. I have shared directories on each machine.

On machine A, when I select machine B, it displays the shared folders on
machine B.

On machine B, when I select machine A, it prompts me to login in order to
connect to machine A. The account is 'guest' and it is greyed out.

I know there are almost a limitless number of potential differences between
these two machines but I've searched various MS sites and have eliminated the
obvious problems (Computer Browser service is started on both machines,
Netbios is enabled on both, the Guest account is disabled on both).

Are there any other things that could cause this ?

My goal is to have both machines operate the same way (see shared content
without logging in)

James,

Are both computers running XP Home or Pro? If Pro, with Simple or Advanced File
Sharing? Big difference here.

If Simple File Sharing, with Guest disabled, you will have a problem.

Chuck,

Thanks for the quick response. Both are Pro. Not sure about the File
Sharing answer but I will check that.

Chuck,

Another 'Thank You'. The File Sharing fixed the problem and now I'm able
to see the contents of shared folders without using the Guest account -
exactly what I wanted.
