problem networking windows XP in a workgroup

Guest

I have two machines ,one labtop and one workstation , both running windows XP
professional . Both machines in a workgroup , but the labtop cannot access
the workstation files . I get a message says that workgroup is not accessible
and also its says that the user might have not been granted this logon type
,this occurs when I try to access the workstation from the labtop .
I am using simple file sharing , guest accounts are activated , I have user
local user accounts on both machines for each other, I can ping each machine
from the other, Netbios is enabled and firewall is turned off .
any help would be appreciated

OK, it's an understandable mistake. But you can't just post new threads
repeatedly, you have to be able to find the replies to your previous posts. You
found this one, didn't you?

Try searching on "benni". Here's the links you should be able to find, where
the previously posted answers should be.

I am trying to reply from the google groups for the last 15 minutes but its
not working for me , everytime I press the post button to reply it says that
I must verifty my email address and I have already verified it ..
But I can say now that the problem is solved and thanks alot . It was in the
local security settings where I entered the everyone account for the allow
access setting.
But now there is another issue . There are three shared folders on both
machines , I can open two of them but not the third , I get the message
saying that the share is not accessible , even that the file is shared .

I forgot to say that , I 've tried the net view command to see the
workstation from the labtop and it works but the file that is not acessible
is listed and also written the <UNC> convention beside it

OK, that's a good start - I was petty sure, from your description, that it had
to be a LSP setting problem. Thanks for letting us know.

Now to your next problem - what's the name of the problem share? NOTE the
limitations with Guest authentication - read this article:

OK, assuming that you're talking about a valid share (not C$, "C:\Program
Files","C:\Windows", or a portion of "C:\Documents and Settings"), then you need
to check the sharing settings. Disable Simple File Sharing, then look at share
properties. Look at the access control lists under Sharing - Permissions, and
Security. Compare the two lists for the problem share against the same for a
couple other non-problem shares. Make sure all lists show the necessary access
rights for Guest.

I have these folders been shared on the workstation "seafarer" for the labtop
access .
I've executed the net view command on the labtop named "hossamp" and the
folder named "ch5" that is non accessible even thought that both folders ch5
and ch7 are from the same directory and drive.
D:\Documents and Settings\hossamp>net view seafarer
Shared resources at seafarer

Share name Type Used as Comment

----------------------------------------------------
ch5 Disk (UNC)
ch7 Disk
Incoming Disk
M Disk Z:
organizer Disk Y:
pics Disk
Printer Print Canon i250
SharedDocs Disk
The command completed successfully.

OK, Benni,

What you're saying is "ch5" is a problem, but "ch7" is no problem. Are you
addressing them both the same way - UNC, or mapped (as "organizer" is for
instance)?

If you're treating "ch5" the same way as the others, and getting nowhere, then
there must be a problem with the share itself. So, as I said in my other post:

Disable Simple File Sharing, then look at properties for "ch5". Look at the
access control lists under Sharing - Permissions, and under Security. Compare
the two lists for "ch5" against the same for "ch7" and for "organizer". Make
sure all lists show the necessary access rights for Guest. Once all settings
are identical for all 3 shares, re enable SFS. Read these articles:
