Windows won't stay in standby

Hi,

My Dell Optiplex runs Win XP Pro SP3. If I put Windows in standby, it goes
into standby without trouble but later turns itself back on. I'd be grateful
for suggestions.

The exit from standby is usually via mouse movement or keyboard. (depends on
how you configured it)
Are both not being moved? Anything scheduled?
Also go into BIOS and turn off any 'wake on' items such as 'wake on lan.'

How could the mouse send a signal when not moved?

There was a problem when you had a wireless mouse. The mouse would send
a signal every so often and not allow the screensaver to work properly.
