WINDOWS WON'T START UP

my computer was working fine until i had a problem with msn explorer, and
then it just shut down by itself ! and now, i can't restart it again, because
it's not responding to when i try to turn it on. what can i do to restart it
without losing all my files ? should i just let it be and see what happens ?
if anyone knows what to do in this situation, please help me !

Clarification required. Are you saying your computer won't start at all or
Windows is not starting? Having a problem with MSN Explorer should not have
affected the computer's ability to start and Windows should have started
too.
