Hi
When I try to boot up my pc I am getting the following error

lsass.exe - System Error

An invalid parameter was passed to a service or function

I can't even boot up in safe mode to do a system restore.
Also I have downloaded all the latest critical window updates
and my virus and firewall software are also upto date

Any Ideas???

Have you tried a repair re-install using your XP CD?

If he had the Sasser worm then shouldn't that file be "lsasse.exe" instead
of "lsass.exe"?

Aw, man. Sorry I can't be of more help. That's a security authentication
logon related file. If you have important data on the HDD you can probably
still get it if you put it into another NTFS system as a slave or secondary
master. Usually, a repair installation will at least let it boot under
"default" security templates, although the user accounts would probably be
trashed. There's a chance that HDD is failing. After you save any data you
cn, you might want to test it with the HDD's test utility. :(

Can you boot to the recovery console from CD and try a chkdsk /R on it? It
probably won't let you in as administrator, though. :(
