Windows - window manager plugins?

Hey all,

Hi, I am a regular linux user that is now trying to get used to a
windows desktop at work (on a labtop). The one thing that I
constantly annoyed by is the in-ability to configure the window
manager. This there any program that will replace the default window
manager for windows (2000 -and/or- XP)? Im hoping to get something
more KWIN from KDE or the gnome WM -- IE: focus follows mouse,
windows are only raised by mouse click - on the borders or titles, not
in the user window space... and any other configurable options.

Thx,
---brian

Microsoft user to offer a "powertoy" to make the mouse focus follow
the cursor, called XMouse. For WinXP they built that functionality
into the Tweakui powertoy, which I always keep installed. For more
details on Tweakui and all the free Microsoft powertoys, see
<http://aumha.org/a/powertoy.php>

I haven't tried this one, but here's another similar idea:

For tweaking and configuring obscure Windows settings, I recommend
TweakUI from Microsoft and X-Setup from <http://www.xteq.com>

If you want to take this further, there are lots of alternative Window
Managers for MS-Windows, more commonly referred to as "shells". See

This is damn close to what I was looking for -- it does all the window
management that I like, but it takes over the middle mouse button for
pasting (like X) -- id love to see window focus rules just like
TXMouse - without the copy/paste stuff getting in the way...

Thanks for the advice and the links -- ill keep looking,

Rather surprisingly and delightfully, KDE for windows! v3.3 I think. I actually
run KDE as my desktop on Windows via Cygwin - talk about the best of both
worlds!
