windows will not shutdown.

Paul

I running windows XP home edition on a Gateway computer.
When I try to log off or shutdown the computer, the error
box come up and states that the computer is trying to
shutdown "rundll.exe". If I do not "end program now" the
computer will not log off/shutdown. Is there a simple
solution to my problem?

Hi Paul,

You need to isolate which process is causing it before you can address it.
Before shutting down, hit ctrl+shift+escape and "end task" on some of the
unnecessary processes, then try shutting down. You may have to experiment
some to discover which is causing the issue, but I'd start with antivirus
software.
