Windows will not open

All of the sudden, my windows will not open properly. My
computer sends me to an interim page where I should be
able to click my username and get into my desktop.
However when I click it, the computer does nothing but go
back to that interim page. Does anyone know what to do in
this situation or has had a similar problem?

Boot into safe mode and restore to a point before the problem started.
