Windows will not boot

I attached another hard drive(8MB) that had WinME on it and installed WinXP on that drive. I replaced it back into another computer. Now, I get the message 'NTLDR not found.' I tried using a start-up disk. It gives the same message. The computer has a 1GB ADM Duron on a ECS K7S5A Motherboard with 256MB of ram. The hard drive is partitioned into two drives. How can I get this computer to boot?

Thank you;
David

Hi,

It can't find the bootloader. Boot the WinXP CD and run the Recovery Console
(see below), then run:

copy X:\I386\ntldr C:\
copy X:\I386\ntdetect.com C:\

This assumes that C:\ is the boot partition, you may need to change it
accordingly. X represents whatever drive letter is assigned to the CD drive,
change it as well. You may also find that the hardware it is currently on
does not match the hardware under which it was installed (why did you do
such a thing in the first place?), and a repair installation may be in
order.

Follow these steps to do a repair install which should preserve your data,
settings, and programs:

1. Insert the Windows XP CD into your computer's CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM
drive.
2. Restart your computer. If you have to, change the BIOS settings to start
from
the CD-ROM drive or DVD-ROM drive, and then restart your computer again.
3. At the "Welcome to Setup" page, press ENTER.
4. Press F8 to accept the Licensing Agreement.
5. Use the arrow keys to select the installation of Windows XP that you want
to
repair, and then press R to start the automatic repair process.
6. When Setup is completed, activate Windows XP.

Note that you will need your Product Key for this procedure, so have it
handy before you begin.
