Boot Error

I have another computer that works find. However, after I turn it off for
the day and turn it on the next day, it stops and shows this error;

Searching for boot Record from Floppy..Not Found
Searching from Boot Record from SCSI.. Not Found

Insert BOOT diskette in A:

I hit the reboot and the computer starts up right. Why does this happen?

I have an ECS Socket A K7S5A Pro motherboard with an AMD Duron Processor and
512MB of memory. Also I have XP Home SP2 with all the updates.

Thank you,
David

Do you have a floppy drive? If so, is there a floppy disk stuck in
there? If so, tap the button to pop it out.

What is the boot device order specified in your BIOS?

Replaced the CMOS battery yet? If it is dead, the CMOS table copy of
the BIOS settings is being lost when you power off and reverting back to
defaults that you don't want.

I'll also add that keeping the floppy drive first in the boot order
(as you surmise, and which is probably the case) is not a good idea.
Boot sector viruses aren't as common as they used to be, but they are
still around. If the floppy is set to boot first, and you happen to
have left a floppy in the drive, and that floppy happens to have a
boot sector virus on it, you're infected.

The risk may be small, but there's no reason to run it at all. The
hard drive should be kept as the first boot device, and it should be
changed to another device *only* when you need it.
