When I start my xp home it gets to the "WINDOWS IS
STARTING" screen and then restarts. It does the same
thing if I start in any safe mode or other option. I ran
Norton Speed Disk the night before (Optimize and remove
unused files). I shut the computer down then it would
not restart. It was attempting to a checkdisk when all
this happened.
Has anyone seen this before or have any ideas on how to
fix it?
I am on the road and do not have my system disk w/ me.

Thanks,

DGE

Sorry, but it sounds like your disk is hosed. Norton Speed Disk is not a
Good Thing to run on XP. You're going to need to either get to a
Recovery Console and try a System Restore from the command line or do a
Repair Install. Either way, you will need a WinXP cd. If you are going
to be out of town for a while, it would probably be worth finding a
local computer repair shop.
