Windows Vista stops working

I play The Sims a lot, and when I got this laptop I noticed that when I
download pretty much anything that's zipped or is an .exe file, windows will
stop and then restart. Sometimes I can't even delete the file to try and
start over.
 
Thank you for the suggestion. It turned out to be a problem with the zip
program and windows vista.
