Windows Vista Help problem

Hi everyone,

I have a problem. I got a new laptop with Vista Ultimate about 2 months
ago. I have been pleasantly surprised with Vista thus far. The only problem
I seem to be having is that my Windows Help program doesn't seem to work.
You know, if you click Start >> Help and Support the help dialog shows for
the help and support center. Well the window that opens is blank and I get a
message box with a title of "Windows Internet Explorer" and a message saying,
"Internet Explorer cannot download / from help. Internet Explorer was not
able to open this Internet site. The requested site is either unavailable or
cannot be found. Please try again late."

The / was not a typo.

Also in the background is the download dialog from IE which says," Getting
File Information: / from help"

If I click OK on the message box both windows close but the blank Help and
Support center window stays.

So this makes me think that it's trying to access the files online...even
though I'm opening the offline help center. ???

I did download the WinHlp32.exe file which apparently is NOT included with
Vista from Microsoft http://support.microsoft.com/kb/917607/en-us and it
was a file called Windows6.0-KB917607-x86.msu. It installed but this problem
remained.

This isn't really a problem as much as it is annoying, but then...I haven't
need help yet. Also, I'm not sure, but if any of my programs need to use the
built in Help then that will also be annoying.

If anyone can help me out I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks so much!!

~Matt

Thank you everyone for your replies. I went ahead and did what Shaun
suggested as he was the first to reply to my question. Obviously it worked.
Thanks so much!!!
