Windows Vista Doesn't Allow MSN Mail?

L

Lorene

New computer -- just started using Windows Mail. (Many years experienced
Outlook user) Is it true that .msn is not a "service provider" but web-based
email (hotmail only)? I've been paying for this service for years and would
think that I could connect and/or import.

In the case msn mail does not work with Windows Mail and I have to enlist
another service provider to use Windows Mail and/or Outlook, Microsoft just
lost my monthly installment. Is that a realistic business move on
Microsoft's part?

POP3 access to MSN/Hotmail accounts has been available in all Mail Clients
since March 2009.

Use the Configuration Settings on this page:

NB: Set Outgoing server (SMTP) to Port 587, not Port 25!

Windows Mail's new account wizard is hard-coded to reject (e-mail address removed)
and (e-mail address removed) addresses. When you enter your email address during setup,
use a dummy one (e.g., (e-mail address removed)). After you've finished, go back
and change the email address to the correct one.
