I just tried with XP and I lost count of Explorer Windows opened (a lot)
till the system stopped opening any new ones.

But the system is working fine and I don't see any abnormal or
non-responsive things. Since there are too many explore winodws, so I
simply logged off and logged back again - instantly.

Now I remember that this trick has been posted before and some of us have
tested it.

In any case, I personally don't see this is a big deal even XP or Vista
crashes. Again, speaking for myself.

Oh, agree wholeheartedly. As Frank pointed out... one can get the same
result, in effect, by pressing the power button for 4-5 seconds. The system
stops.

Simple fix: don't depress the WinKey-E key combo for 30 seconds. Doh!

Time to move on to more important things... ;-)

And that gives you the right to write that Frank smears monkey feces all
over himself? Uh, no? Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Alias is a troll. Species: Ubuntu. Your claims that because this is a
"general" group, anyone can post anything they want to about other OS's is
suspect, at best. It's "Vista.General." Which implies, to -my- "regular
IQ" common sense, at least, that it's a ng to address general issues about
Vista not covered by other ng's. You obviously choose to interpret it
otherwise. Alias does nothing but post "try Ubuntu." That's spam, at
least, and troll-ism more likely. Am I saying no threads about other OS's
should occur? Absolutely not. But go into the Ubuntu ng and see how many
Vista or XP or W2K trolls hang out there pronouncing Windows as better
than nix. (And those who might jump on this: do spare us the "because it
is" arguement.) Go into the Mac forums and count how many nix trolls or
Windows trolls -constantly-, day-in, day-out, post that another OS is
better, give up on "this" OS and try "this other" OS. Pffflllbbbttttt!

I've seen your method of posting with Frank. Frank posts a reply, trying
to -help- someone, and you barge in and call him an idiot, fanboi, MS
apologist. Somehow I don't read that as Frank being the root cause of his
"drunk" replies to you. Maybe if you didn't attack him first, he wouldn't
respond in kind. And all this coming from two self-proclaimed Mensa level
intelects. A shame, really.

Not surprised in the least that there was no response...

Similar generic "launched too many instances" (user) bugs have been
protected against, so maybe this should be too.

For example, if you select a thousand files and press Enter, some OSs
(or perhaps, the apps that act via file association) will pop up an
"Are you sure/crazy?" confirmation dialog.

However, it's really hard to accidentally hold down Flag+E for 30
seconds, compared to (say) reaching across the keyboard so that your
arm rests on the keypad's Enter key.

Concur. Fully!

This reply is so late, no one will probably ever read it... but I just tried
this on an Ubuntu seat... opened a window to my home folder and then held
down Ctrl-N for 30 seconds and ended up with this error dlg: "Lang - file
browser is not responding - you may choose to wait a short while for it to
continue or force the application to quit entirely."

So... as I surmized before... I don't think the claim that "two keystrokes
bring Vista down" is valid as a Vista only issue. It's valid for other OS's
too. Whoa... big surprise! (Uh, not?)

Folks! Don't lean on the WinKey and E... (or if you're using Ubuntu... the
Ctrl key and "N"). Duuuuuuuhhhhhh... okay?
