Windows updates wont install

I see looking through some of these threads that when folks post thier error
code they are then asked for the last few lines of some log ...is this the
information(below) that you need to help me solve this problem? if so please
let me know what I need to do to get the windows updates to install.

Nomatter what I do I get the boxed message that Windows Installer is
installing..Forever... As I cancel the installer it either sets forever,
locks up system. I have tried to install the lastest installer 3.1, but
there is an error so will not install. I am trying to enstall some software,
so I can backup to an external drive, but will not let intellsheild install.
So now I am really dead in the water.... Any ideas
