Can't install SP2

I've got a PC that I "inherited" from a previous admin who apparently
didn't believe in updates and service packs... :)

Unfortunately, now that I'm trying to install SP2, it won't install. I
did remove a fair amount of spyware/adware/malware from the PC, but it
still won't install. Here's the log file from the latest attempt

If you have the install media, a good idea is to slipstream it and then do a
repair install. Autostreamer makes this very, very easy.

However, if you've got a system whose history is suspect, you might find
that it takes less time to just wipe it and start over with a clean install.
Do slipstream first.

Well, I checked the first link... nothing there. It does not describe
my problem. I did set the log level to "verbose" but that didn't

Does anyone see anything showing why it wont' install? I'd just wipe
it and reinstall, except that this machine has Office 2000 on it, and
I don't happen to have the install media for Office 2000, it having
disappeared sometime between when it was installed and when I
'inherited' the machine.

I followed the instructions
