windows updates problem

Trying to download critical updates. I get as far as a box telling me it is
preparing to download updates with a progress bar below but it gets no
further and doesn't download anything. Can some one help please.

Make sure you are using only Internet Explorer when visiting
the Windows Update website.

Thanks Carey, this link fixed my Windows Logo error on updates and inability
to do any updates !

Most frustrating, but now fixed (along with 7 critical patches now
installed).
