windows update

I have noticed windows update base and a few other components that deal with
windows update. I was under the impression that windows update (through IE
and the update web site) would not work with embedded xp. I my wrong, does
windows update work with xpe?

WU is not supported on XPe, even though the WU client is in the database.

If you have included the group policy (gpedit.msc) on your image, then you
can prevent your browser from accessing the WU.

I guess not need for a heavy gpedit. Just change the registry value:
[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer],"NoWindowsUpdate"=hex:"01,00,00,00" (or DWORD value, I don't
recall exactly).
The same for appropriate HKLM key.
That should remove the WU icon from Start Menu and disable WU browsing using IE.

However, wouldn't that be easier just not to include the WU control in to the image?
