Windows Update

I have downloaded the Windows XPProf. updates (some 34
files)and about 37 Mbytes of data on my
home/telecommuting Dell Pentium 4 machine. However, the
install shield does not want to run. I had previously
downloaded the blaster worm update at my DC office to a
zip disk and installed it successfully from the zip disk.
After not being able to get the overall install shield to
run, I manually installed 33 of the 34 updates
successfully. However, I am not able to install the
Service Pac 1 SP1_Express. When I try to install it the
install wizard wants to go back out to the microsoft
update site and get all 38 MB of data again. If I go to
the update site, scan for updates it says I need two
updates; SP1 and 823980 the latter I already installed.
When I click to update SP1, it goes thru the download
process for the 1.9 MB in about a second, indicating that
it finds the file in WindowsUpdateTemp (WUTemp). The
window shows the progress on the download completed but
then no progress ever shows on the install strip.

Any suggestions??

Are you using the AOL browser or the "pure" IE browser to reach Windows
Update, Gil? Is the anti-virus application disabled?
