Windows Update

When trying to access Windows update I get the following web page message
but my system is Windows xp.
Can anyone help to try and resolve this?

Go to Start > Run and type: WINVER , and hit enter.

If "Version 5.1 (Build 2600) is not shown, you are running a
beta version of XP for which there is no update support. If
that's the case, you need to reformat your drive and install
the released version of XP, after purchasing it.
