windows update scan freezes at 0%

After trying all the fixes suggested by Microsoft the scan
still freezes at 0%. Is there a problem with Microsoft
site?

I have the same problem. Windows Update did work before on
this system but just sits at 0% complete and does nothing
more. The stsem is still active and I can exit without any
problem but no updates. Any fixes anyone?
