windows update problems

I was using my machine without any problems and decided to upgrade media
player to version 10. I then installed the latest updates from microsoft and
restarted. Now everytime I try and use internet explorer or media player I
get a window open up that states that the programs have encoutered a problem
and that I can send an error report or dont send. if i click on the dont send
option the program shuts down. I can pull the error message away from the
explorer window and still use interent explorer but this isnt right. It only
seems to have started since the updates were installed. Any help would be
gratefully received.

I would start by uninstalling media player 10 and Internet explorer. while
Internet Explore is unintalled you can access the internet by downloading and
installing mozilla firefox first. once that is done, make sure that you have
service pack 2 installed, then reinstall internet explorer, and download and
install media player 10 again.
