Windows Update problem

For some time now, every time I try to run Windows Update on XP
professional I get the following error:

---------------------------
0x80072F8F: Your computer's date and time appear to be out of sync
with an update certificate.
---------------------------

The time and date on my computer are correct.

As per suggestions on the Windows help site and elsewhere I've done the
following:
----------------------------
# Re-register these important files and check IE settings:

1. Click Start.
2. Choose Run.
3. In the Run box, type: regsvr32 Mssip32.dll
4. Click OK.
5. Repeat this time typing: regsvr32 Initpki.dll
Click OK.
Repeat typing: regsvr32 SOFTPUB.dll

Still nothing works. Any suggestions?

Open Internet Explorer, on the Tools menu, click Internet Options, and then click the
Content tab.
Under Certificates, click Clear SSL State.
Click OK when you receive the message that the SSL cache was successfully cleared.
Under Personal information, click AutoComplete.
Under Clear AutoComplete history, click Clear Forms. Click OK when you are prompted
to confirm the operation.
Click Clear Passwords. Click OK when you are prompted to clear all previously saved
passwords, and then click OK two more times.

Close Internet Explorer
Start Internet Explorer and try the Windows Update Site again.

Also check the Time Zone Tab to make sure you have the correct time zone.

Spent a lot of time with Windows Online Support yesterday. The fault
was that Update was calling upon a file directly rather than going
through my proxy server, and was getting stopped by a firewall. Have
now made a hole in the firewall to accommodate the call.
