Application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba (Solution)

I use to get the following error message;

Windows Defender
Application failed to initialize: 0x800106ba. A problem has caused Windows
Defender Service to stop. To start the service, restart your computer or
search Help and Support on how to start a service manually.

I was also experiencing a problem with searching for available updates on
the Update site, and receive the 0x800B0001 error.
http://update.microsoft.com/windowsupdate/v6/showarticle.aspx?articleid=34&ln=en&IsMu=False
To correct the 0x800B0001 error, I found the following instructions;

1. Register the following files
Click Start.
Choose Run.
In the Run box, type regsvr32 wuapi.dll.
Click OK.
Repeat steps 1 through 4 for the following files: wuaueng.dll, wucltui.dll,
wups.dll, wuweb.dll, atl.dll.

2. Register the following files
Click Start.
Choose Run.
In the Run box, type regsvr32 Softpub.dll.
Click OK.
Repeat steps 1 through 4 for the following files: Wintrust.dll, Initpki.dll,
Mssip32.dll.

After completing the above steps, I could search for available updates on
the Update site and I was no longer geting the 0x800106ba error when Windows
Defender would initialize. Even if you're not having a problem searching for
available updates on the Update site, these steps may solve the Windows
Defender 0x800106ba error.
