Windows Update not working

I'm using a PC running XP Home SP1, with Automatic Updates turned on.
I chose the option to be notified when there are updates available, and to
notify me again when they are ready to be installed. I connect to the
Internet via a cable modem. Yesterday, I installed WMP 9 with no trouble.
However, I know there are two critical updates for this program, but 24
hours have gone by and I still haven't been notified of them. How do I fix
this?
 
Ignore my last post. The Windows Update icon popped up about 10
minutes later. Updates are downloading now.
