windows update not updating this morning

Tried to get latest updates this morning
scanned for updates
selected 2 new ones
agreed to terms
window pops up but progress bar never moves...........
Oct 3 cumulative patch never downloads.
Internet connection is fine 512 broadband

Hi,

This is the short version of steps to troubleshoot access problems:

Disable any/all of the following installed on your system:

- firewall (even the native one)
- antivirus software
- popup stopper
- download manager

Go to the Control Panel/Internet Options, click on "languages" and make sure
at least your default language is installed.

Check the Date & Time applet and make sure that the day/month, and
especially year are correct, if you are out of date by 90 days or more you
will not see any updates.

Add these sites to the list of trusted sites under Internet Options/security
in the Control Panel:

https://Windowsupdate.microsoft.com
https://V4.Windowsupdate.microsoft.com
https://Download.Windowsupdate.com
https://a248.e.akamai.net

Then retry Windows Update. If this doesn't help, try more troubleshooters
