Windows Update no longer works

I updated from Win98SE to Win2k about 6 months ago, including all the latest
service packs (up to SP4, I believe).

Since July I have noticed that Windows Update no longer works. Has something
changed? I used to get a notice that updates were available for installation
but I no longer get these. I did some poking around and do see the updates
from July but the installations have failed. What is going on and is there a
way to manually install them?

TIA,
GHB

Be advised that upgrades from win9x almost always fail for any number of
reasons. Save yourself some time and trouble, given that you'll more than
likely end up with an unstable OS with all the remnants/ corruption left
behind from the upgrade. Best to blow it all away and go for the clean
install.

Try asking them here.

Have you tried going to Windows Update directly (Internet Explorer, Tools, Windows Update)? If not, try that and be sure to accept any ActiveX prompts after checking to make sure they are from Microsoft).
