Windows Update keeps offering me the same update

I am running Windows XP Pro on 2 identical boxes at home.
I have a cable connection and use a Linksys router. On
one box Windows updates keeps offering "Update Rollup 1
for Microsoft Windows XP KB826939". It has successfully
installed 15 times as of today. On the other
box "Security Update for Microsoft Windows KB824141" has
been successfully installed 10 times.

I have contact Microsoft tech support by e-mail and have
followed their latest instructions to the letter and
still have the problem on my home computers. I have now
noticed that computers here at work are having the same
problem. In my area we have 300 boxes running XP Pro (in
the building I work in there are over 2000 computers all
running XP Pro) and I do not have the time and the staff
to run around and check every box and try the fixes
Microsoft tech support suggested I try at home here at
work.

Any ideas?

It's a "Bug". I've gone as far as to delete WindowsUpdate
from Program Files, C:\Windows\System32\Catroot(2)
folders and the two Registry Keys (SP2 + Hotfixes) that
detail HotFix installs. Also, the WindowsUpdate.Log file
in the C:\Windows folder. I also uninstalled the Active X
WinUpdate module.

I'm assuming your machine was like mine and had all updates
installed, making the Rollup unnecessary.

If they (MS) had thought this through a little better they should
have created a new category "Rollups"that supercede "Criticals".
From a hierarchical standpoint, Rollup shouldn't be categorized
with the components it is designed to replace.
