Problems with the roll up update ?

Update Rollup 1 for Microsoft Windows XP (KB826939)
Download size: 282 KB, 1 minute

The above update seems to be installing every time I visit
the site. It has now installed successfully and is
indicated in the install log approx 4 times. Is this a
problem with the update ?

If not any ideas?

Can something be done so it doesn't show up as a needed update - I have
checked Kelly's site and tried a "universal" script from Doug Knox's site -
no luck - everytime I scan for updates it appears as critical update ready
for me to install. I know I can remove it and not install. But I'd like to
stop it from appearing all together as other updates have been stopped oncew
tehy are installed.

TIA

I have the same situation. Apparently, the scan code is not set to
ignore the "Rollup" if the user's PC has all the Rollup components
installed already. The XML history file will show the update as
being installed. The Registry key for 826939 does get added to
the "HotFixes" key, but not the SP2 key. In my case, I've deleted
the $NT$uninstall folders from the Windows sub-folder and took
out the uninstallers from Add/Remove Programs. Without knowing
what triggers the detection of the Rollup as being undone it's hard
to know what to change to omit it from the listing.
Hopefully Microsoft will address this with some type of code fix
for Windows Update. I suppose you could remove one of the
HotFixes keys or just rename the .XML logs from the Windows
Update folder and start over to clear the errant listing.
