I am trying to help a user who has a new Toshiba laptop
with Win XP installed. When he tried to do a windows
update, clicking on 'Scan for updates' causes an error
message to pop up. It appears that the javascript is not
installed.
I manually installed Service Pack 1 and IE6.0 SP1 to see
if they would fix the problem.
He just installed Office 2003, and was told he needed an
update when it was finished. But the update would not
install.
He has a direct connection to the Internet and normal
browsing works fine. He can connect to the MS site with no
problem.
Everything else on the machine works fine; but he is
concerned that he cannot get the updates he needs.
I suspect that the javascript somehow did not get
installed, or installed incorrectly. How can we get this
fixed for him.
