Windows Update Error (0x800C0005)

I tried to access the windows update (server)from
Microsoft for my Win XP (SP1) Home edition. I click on
scan for updates, but getting the error message windows
update error (0x800C0005). I looked on the windows update
home page, but found nothing about this error message.

The problem is connecting to secured (https) web pages. I
do not have MSFT internal firewall turned on, there is
however Norton Internet Security installed, but when I
open it states that security if OFF and everything else is
disabled on the menu. So NIS is not running.

I am able to login and check mail from yahoo (unsecured),
but when I click on the secure logon the next page that
come up is "the page cannot be displayed"..."cannot find
server of DNS error" I looked at the DNS settings and they
are OK. I also checked the IE 6.x security settings and
set them all to default level. Clicked over to the Privacy
tab and it is setting to medium.

I did a search and found one page about this. I followed
the directions, but it still did not solve the problem.

Need some assistance on where to go from here. Please can
anyone help me. Thank you in advance if you can.
