Windows update deletes files

I ran the Windows Update for XP Pro after Being notified that new updates
were available. After the updates were installed I no longer had .txt, .doc,
..jpg files on my hard drive. I run behind a hardware firewall and an
antivirus program. Anybody else have this happen?

A small icon in the taskbar stating there were updates and they were being
installed.

Just checking to be certain it wasn't by e-mail. I have downloaded all
updates. This has NOT happened to my system. There may be some virus' that
can do this. Update you virus definitions and run a full virus scan on your
system.
