Hi,
Is it necessary to download recommended windows update 817778 for a home
user? Can't tell from the description whether it is essential. Has anyone
downloaded 817778 and installed the update and are there any problems? Any
assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

That is for the newly developed IPv6 networking protocols that are not
yet in general internet use and won't be for quite some time. At the
moment it is for people wanting to try these things out on test and
private networks, and for a standalone machine or home network I would
leave it alone
