Windows Time Service Needed on Workstations?

We are an AD 2003 domain and all time is synced to the domain controllers.
Is the WIndows Time Service still needed to be started on the clients
(XP/2000) in order for proper network time sync?

We recently went through a network security scan and they had an issue with
all the clients running the Windows Time Service. So, if it is not needed to
sync the time with the entire network, I'd like to disable that service on
the clients.

You need to run it or the PCs won't sync time to the domain, and you'll run
into problems. Not sure what network security scan you ran, but I've never
seen this service as a potential security issue.
