Windows taskbar/start button

I have somehow managed to loose the windows taskbar / start button etc from
the bottom of my screen. Does anyone know how to get it back. I have tried
clicking and dragging the mouse from the very bottom edge of the screen where
the taskbar should be but this hasnt worked.
