"windows/system32/config/system corrupt or missing"

Got this error on boot up for the third time this year, last two times
I had backups of reg hives on restore folder, So I fixed with them.
This time they're not. This time the original file was corrupted, it
was on a bad sector, I repaired it using Norton Disk Doctor. But still
system doesn't boot up. What can I do (other than replacing the file
from a file off 'Repair' folder) ?

Thanx for the reply!, yes I tried them, in my case its faulty hardware,
Bad sectors. Which I fixed but the thing is I dont have registry hive
copies on restore folder. It's the system hive damaged, so i'll try by
replacing it with the one on Repair folder. Coz I dont wanna loose
other settings and all.

The only way to fix bad sectors is to replace the hard drive. Is this
what you've done? If not, you'll be wasting time trying to recover a
registry that will only become corrupted again.
