Hi,been a few weeks and I can't find any of my own questions or the responses
rec'd,especially from Bill S but will take a much needed response from anyone
right now,am in a fix
When I boot up,the first thing that opens up on my screen is the entire
System 32 screen.Someone posted a response with a string or fix to stop that
from happening and I've misplaced it.Can someone PLEASE respond once again as
to how I stop the sys 32 screen from coming up.Urgent plese, can't locate any
of the older replies, seems to be all 2006 already.Thank you most kindly.Bruce

Hi Wesley. The link to microsoft page I read and re-read,don't understand
it.Could you explain in very simple terms even I can follow?.
The other link had the right heading but when I clicked to RUN it,I got
something that stated could not fix as required value not found.
Sorry to be a pain but really need some help here.I've used a program called
TuneXP several times that requires you to put original disc in drive(Windows
File Checker)and thought this would replace whatever I was missing but
hasn't.Thx.Bruce

[[This script cannot repair your issue. The expected Registry value was not

The script looks for SB Audigy 2 Startup Menu value in
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
This is a real common problem with Dell machines that have an OEM version of
the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 sound card. But it isn't the only thing that
causes the System32 folder to open at startup.

Try this.

Open the Registry Editor...
Start | Run | Type: regedit | Click OK |
Navigate to...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Right click on the Run folder | Select Export | For File name type: hkcu |
Save to your Desktop |

Navigate to...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Right click on the Run folder | Select Export | For File name type: hklm |
Close regedit |

Right click hkcu on your Desktop and select: Edit | Select all the text and
Copy |
Paste into a message | Close hkcu |

Right click hklm on your Desktop and select: Edit | Select all the text and
Copy |
Paste into a message | Close hklm |

Post back with that info and we'll see if we can find what's wrong and try
to fix it.

Registry. Then it only said finished searching but didn't bring up the key so
I could click on the RUN.What did I do wrong??.Thx

Run may not exist in this key...
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

It does not exist on my machine.

I don't know why, using F3 to find keys has never worked for me.

Navigate to the location, like you would in Window Explorer.

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
would be
[+] HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE
[+] SOFTWARE
[+] Microsoft
[+] Windows
[+] CurrentVersion
[+] Run
click on each [+] to expand.

Have had this XP Home/SP2 ever since I moved up from Win 95 on a Compaq
laptop years ago and this is the first time I've had a problem I couldn't
solve/get rid of and find myself awfully embarrassed/frustrated.When I did
the first string and didn't come up with the actual string which I should
have,I did manage to get the hkcu from documents onto desktop but it opened
with Notepad and was almost 30mg in size and showed nothing for ages but a
series if numbers that went on forever and seemed to relate to my Intel
Graphics card.Completely baffled. Please to accept my invitation just until
this particular situation is resolved.Bruce
