Hi,
I am just setting up my laptop with Windows XP Home, and the beginning is
coming up with a password protection. I cannot remember choosing a username
and password so I have no idea what to do. Can anyone help?
Thanks,
Kimberly.

It should have asked you for a username/password during setup (if you mean
you literally were setting up the laptop (installing Windows XP from CD.)

Try not putting one and just pressing ENTER.

If that doesn't work, try booting into Safe Mode and logging in as the user
"Administrator" with a blank (no) password - just pressing ENTER - and then
when in Safe Mode - change the password of the other user account(s)
password(s) to something you do know.

Hi,

Thankyou, that worked! I didn't realise you just had to press enter!

All the best,
Kimberly.

You are obviously not aware that the "forum" you are posting in leaches most
of it's posts from the Microsoft News Server in order to make it look far
busier than it is.

You will get a far better experience if you use a newsreader and subscribe
to these groups directly, rather than through the leaching site your using.

If you must stay with your leaching forum then please follow Usenet custom
by quoting
the post you are replying to, and replying to the thread.
