"Windows sockets initialization failed"

I have a XP operating system, and have been using
FamilyTreeMaker Version 11 on my laptop, and suddenly I
haven't been able to get into FTM Notes section-error
message was "won't open because printer wasn't
initialized". Now I can't even open my file at all and
the error message is "Windows sockets initialization
failed" What does all this mean, and what do I do about
it? My file has over 46,000 family ancestors and
descendants, and it would be devastating if I have lost it.

You need to contact the vendor of that FTM program for instructions on how
to recover/backup the files that contain that data first. After you have
secured your data, then you need to run a complete virus scan and use some
of the spyware removal applications.
