windows service authentication

Richard

I have a windows 2000 service that needs to access the NDS
of a netware 5.1 server. The local system account cannot
authenticate against the netware server and the other
accounts I can choose are either domain or local windows
accounts which also cannot authenticate. I cannot seem to
get Gateway Services for Netware to work since the
resource I'm trying to access is not a share or printer.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Help would be most appreciated.

I am trying to access data held for each user in the NDS;
in fact it's a DLL that has been provided for a product
called PCounter which holds a print account balance in the
NDS. I need to call the DLL from a Windows service to
retrieve user balances from the NDS on a seperate server
but cannot get the system account to authenticate with the
Netware box.

I'm not sure that LDAP will help with this problem.

Thanks

Hi Richard,

install Novell Client 4.83 SP2 + patch E, then configure it with the correct
tree and context.

Next create an NDS/eDirectory user object account in that context, and
create a domain or local user account with the exact same name and password
as the NDS/eDirectory user object, and use that account as the service
account. As long as the NDS/eDirectory user has the necessary rights it
should work.
