Windows Security shield on my notification area

I've got a Windows Security shield on my notification area. I'm pretty sureit's malware but can't see where it's filed and Malwarebytes and Zonealarmhave left it alone. It seems to be responsible for removing some file associations. Any ideas on how to remove it?

You don't mention an AV program. If you are using MSSE (MicroSoft
Security Essentials) there is a shield in the notification area which
will display in different colours depending on the status it detects.
