I have a user that submited a ticket with the following statement.
I have many other users with exactly the same work computer that are
able to remote their destop through VPN from home with out issue.

Body of the ticket

I remote desktop from my home PC several times a week. When I return to
my work PC after using remote desktop from home, I need to restart my
PC at work. Here are some details...

* screen resolution at work: 1024 x 768
* screen resolution at home: 1024 x 768
* when I\'m done with the remote session, I always log off

Please advise.

End Body of ticket

He has a message on his screen at work that the settings are out of
range the same message you get when your refresh rate is set higher
than the monitor can handle. By how would the refresh rate of his
machine at home affect his computer at work through a remote desktop
session? Is there a setting I can adjust on his work machine that will
keep this from happening?

He has an xp workstation running sp2.

Thanks for your time

a little more info.

it turns out after the remote desktop sesssion is closed. logged out or
just disconnected the user can see the ctrl-alt-del and can get to the
log in box the monitor does not take a dump to the out of range message
until the user logs in.

So i tested from my machine on the local network same results as when
he uses his computer at home.

So i turned his refresh rate down to 70 from 75 and now we can remote
it and disconnect and still login with no issues.

The users monitor is 9 years old it can handle 75 but for some reason
it cant handle the transition from serving a remote desktop to
displaying one locally.

very strange.
