Windows Protection Error

After I log my Windows 2000 Professional machine onto the domain, I get a
Windows Protection Error message and asked to insert the Windows 2000 Pro CD
to update some files. That procedure doesn't work. I'm thinking it's some
type of worm or virus or something. Anyone else get this? Thanks.

Problem may be caused by a corrupted user profile. I logged onto the PC using
my profile and did not get the error message. I then copied my profile to the
one user who was expericencing the problem and that seemed to resolve the
problem.

During a Windows-2000 Direct-X or MediaPlayer update-download install, I got
a message "Files that are required for Windows to run properly have been
replaced by unrecognized versions. To maintain system stability, Windows must
restore the original versions of these files. Insert your Windows
Professional CD now." Problem is that I don't have a CD, my operating system
was installed by a licensed reseller. There is apparently no way to back out
of this situation! Thanks Microsoft!!
