Windows Product Activation - a KB905474 problem?

Tony

Since the 12 May, the following warning has started to appear regularly in
my Application event log on Windows XP Pro SP1:

Source: Windows Product Activation
Event ID: 1005
Description:
Your Windows product has not been activated with Microsoft yet. Please use
the Product
Activation Wizard within 30 days. For more information, see Help and
Support Center at
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/events.asp.

If I follow the link to the Help and Support Center, the explanation talks
about Windows Server 2003 (but I'm running Windows XP Pro!). The suggested
user action is to run the Product Activation Wizard
(C:\Windows\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /a) but, when I do that, it tells me
that "Windows is already activated. Click OK to exit" (which is correct - I
activated Windows a long time ago now!).

Does anyone have any idea what is happening? Is it anything to do with
Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications (KB905474) that Windows Update
installed on the 12 May as part of some high priority updates?

Yes, Sounds like you might have a cracked or copied version of windows, where
id you buy the pc and did it already of xp installed on it , if yes sounds
like corrupted system files. Contact Tech Support at microsoft or considor a
system recovery if you do that you lose all files and it completely deletes
evrything of the hard drive and re-installs all files
