Windows OS Hard disk confusion

T

Tim Allen

Hi there. this is a good one! I have a windows 2000 server
on 1 hard disk with 2 partitons and attached another
physical hard disk as a slave with windows XP professional
also with 2 partitions on it. the intention was to ghost
an XP image onto the server. Once the disk was attached
and detected a reboot was required.
When rebooted I logged as normal yet within my computer C
related the c drive of the slave disk with XP and E to the
server. In effect the disks being back to front. removing
the slave disk and rebooting Windows 2K tries to log me in
but just keeps returning the intial login box. I can only
login now once the hard disk is re-attched as a slave. I
can't re-assign drive letters. tried different IDE
configurations, no joy. I was told it could be a problem
with the disks referring to incorrect pagefile.sys files.
So I added a pagefile.sys to each partition in hope to
rectify this. However I still have the same problem.
Any ideas as this seems really bizarre.

Many thanks guys
