windows opening at random

The start menu, display window, the box that opens when you right click on
desktop and others open without me clicking on them. For a minute I am
unable to do anything with my computer, mouse will not work and windows are
flickering and popping up on screen.
Also recently my computer has shut down a few times and when it restarts the
message I get says it recovered from a driver problem and it fixed itself.
Any help on this would be appreciated.

Yes, Norton and every Friday runs automatically. Update should be
automatically also but will check that.
