Taskbar disappears while on remote desktop

Hi!

Recently some glitch arose: when I am opening my desktop windows xp
from notebook via remote desktop, taskbar dsappears.

Start menu is functional, i.e. Ctrl-Esc works normally, but taskbar is
not visible. The screen space is still reserved for it, but only
wallpaper is visible behind. Nothing occures if mouse click into
taskbar region.

The situation is fixed if I am killing explorer.exe process and then
restarting it.

What could be a matter for it?

No, theme changing does not restore taskbar.

are you using the latest version of the remote desktop client (6.0) that is
part of sp3

try playing with the color depth settings

I have been using remote desktop for years and I have never seen that..

also create or log into a new account in XP with remote desktop see if the
behavior exists there
